Translation of this: http://cultura.panorama.it/musica/pearl ... tning-bolt
Lightning Bolt shows that Pearl Jam can reinvent themselves without denying anything of their history. Backspacer, their last studio album, was an almost perfect rock record, direct, immediate.
Retracing that road wouldn't be only risky but also pointless. If we're talking about it's sound, Lightning Bolt is definitely a varied record which often changes of atmosphere. Different but at the same time reassuring for those who follow the band since the beginning.
Gateway is pure classic rock with a lot of guitars, Mind Your Manners is punk in it's attitude and atmosphere (makes you want to play some Jello Biafa's Dead Kennedys).
My Father's son is intense, not particularly original, but Vedder's interpretation saves the day. It may not be the most demanding fan's favourite but Sirens is one great song. Of course it's again Vedder's timbre that makes all the difference. Also, and it's useful to remember, there aren't all that many ballads of this quality around.
The title track? Is formidable. Power and melody combined with the expertise that only the best performers are able to achieve. A midtempo with a slightly irregular rhythm. It could have some surprises after a handful of listens. Really nice are the guitar parts in Infallible. A song that takes off slowly but does never completely convince .
Every great rock album has it's ballad. Lighting Bolt's is called Pendulum and it's a real jewel. A reason for buying the album that would loose some of it's appeal without this song. Percussive rhythmic reminiscent of Tex Mex music. Psychedelic flashes and goosebumps inducing vocals. A masterpiece.
Let The Records play isn't bad either with it's strong blues vibe.
Nice is the folk part of the record starting with Sleeping by Myself, already released in Vedder's solo record US. Future Days is the albums' closer. A piano, a violin and Eddie Vedder's voice. Need More?

Yeah, I do, actually. What about Yellow Moon? I figured it for the song on the record with the Tex Mex sound . . . . .

If the Tex Mex sound is anything like the Tex Mex taste, that song should be finger-lickin' good.

i figure he meant tejano music with that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tex-Mex_music

I think he accidentally left it out. I should have translated "parenthesis" differently. It was meant as part of the record and Yellow Moon obviously fits in.

It could also hint at it being heart disease inducing.

Doesn't sound like the 10c to be lazy like that.
Besides the obvious bitching it seems like a really bad move when we're talking about such a big part of the new album promotion at the exact time they, in theory, should be concentrating the most.
they probably need to give the original source hosts a certain amount of time before they trump their airing, maybe?
