Re: What movies are you watching?
The original Top Gun is not really a good movie. It's boring for long stretches! It's mostly a romance, not even an action movie. And even the action elements have no stakes until the last twenty minutes (which feel tacked on). Who will win this meaningless trophy? Who cares? It ends up feeling like things just happen for no reason. Goose dies because...why? Boo Top Gun

I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago, and good God did I hate it. I did really enjoy the flight scenes, but just wanted to punch most of the characters the whole time. Also, Maverick is the antagonist. The Argonaut wrote:The original Top Gun is not really a good movie. It's boring for long stretches! It's mostly a romance, not even an action movie. Re: What movies are you watching?
I would have been fine living life never seen it, but a friend wanted to go see Top Gun Maverick so I figured I should give it a go. It wasn't exactly what I expected, but I had a feeling I wouldn't like it.Rangi Guy wrote:You are both dead to melennytheweedwhacker wrote:I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago, and good God did I hate it. Also Covid interfered with seeing Maverick and now I just hate my life choices.

Lenny, you should make sure you see Maverick. It's a classic.

It's going to be thirty-friggin-six degrees (ninety-six-friggin degrees F) tomorrow so I plan to spend much of tomorrow afternoon in the cinema. Top Gun: Maverick and Both Sides of the Blade double feature. Seem like they'll pair well together

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
