kinda looks like PJ is settling in to 'paying the bills' touring phase in Europe

i blame Matt for that, he seems to be the most lifeless PJ performer live, always seems like he is rushing through songs, and always playing the most generic beats like a person who is playing the role of a generic pop-rock drummer as opposed to a drummer that actually feels something in the music

this is the exact opposite of my feelings about Matt in soundgarden

but will not divert this thread into a drummer debate

even though it is obvious the energy of richard stuverud added 100x more life to the PJ shows he played in

now Matt is back and PJ are 'doing their dayjobs'

I agree that Matt is soul-less compared to previous drummers. I was listening to some 2006 shows and he sounded really good there but that's the only time I've ever thought that.

Soulless is right. A very technical drummer but doesn't have 'feel' - perfect for Soundgarden but leaves me a bit cold for PJ.

But he does have feel. Listen to Temple of the Dog.

That's a good example tbf. Most of the time I find him as subtle as a sledgehammer though. Love him for Soundgarden, mind.

He still had 'it' as recently as 2006 IMO. Wonder if the decline coincided with the reformation of Soundgarden for some reason.

He's always been lead hands, even 98. Plays everything too hard. But Their music is just not challenging enough for him, have to wonder if he has enough savings and quits at some point.
Speaking of money I hope they didnt lose too much of it cancelling these shows.

without changing band members for 20 years, they don’t actually have to listen to each other or the music.. just rehearse their part and rush to fit the expected amount of songs in a night. Everything would just get stale after awhile. When the drummer changes, it starts from square one. Who knows what PJ would sound like now if we had 28 years of jack irons.

While I understand it's difficult to make such decisions, it's already too late. Lots of fans already in Amsterdam. I have 8 more hours to cancel my hotel reservation for free. And have a ticket for the Rijksmuseum from 2 years ago. Contacted the museum a week ago asking if it was still valid. Little did I know... :|

Prague got cancelled 24h before the show, that means in a couple of hours now. Have no idea what to think. Band is underway to Amsterdam. But that seems logical, it's always their "home base" in Europe.
