Cracker Barrel

Post by daft twat »

There is one in Minnesota, but it’s 30 minutes from me and I’ve never been.

I try to hit one whenever I’m on vacation in another part of the country. I love it so much. It’s the sort of place I imagine people say, “Don’t mind if I do” regularly.

I browsed the shop while we waited for a table. I bought an enormous bag of Sixlets and laughed at an XXL shirt that said “Sundays are for Jesus & Football.”

I went with the pot pie. Delicious again, Peter.

i've not been to one in forever, though we have plenty here.

not sure if they all do this, but when they serve breakfast you can get a plate of muffins (blueberry, cornbread, whatever). worth it.

big ass rockin' chairs, big ass checkers, a f*ck ton of candy cane varieties.

It’s comfort food done right. If you go, you’re going to see someone with an electric cart because they’re obese. Every time. You’re going to have a refill before you’re even ready for one. I recommend going to one around 1 pm and understanding it will be your only meal of the day.

There was a little person working at Disneyland behind the counter at the end of Main Street where they sell chili in sourdough bowls and soft pretzels. The outfit (ie uniform) was fucking adorable. You will find no little people at Cracker Barrel. You will find quite the opposite.

My oldest son ordered “chicken fried chicken.” It was smothered in gravy.

We did. Neptune’s was good side from port a potties (wtf?). Had to go to Zuma rather than El Matador due to parking, but we were happy to be at a beach after 2 days in 110+ Joshua Tree. We enjoyed the park a lot, but it’s a one time visit and way down the list of the 17 NPs we’ve been to.

I'm a redneck from Alabama, so yeah i'm a fan. When I was growing up we didn't have any nearby so I considered it a vacation type luxury, for lack of a better term.

Considering the enormous portion sizes, friendly and attentive service, and surprisingly low prices, I’d say it’s probably the best sit-down chain I’ve ever been to.

I remember enjoying it growing up, when we’d go on road trips.

I’ve had it in the last decade a few times, while on the road for work, and it was quite underwhelming.

They actually have a great chicken fried steak. (Or country fried. Whichever you call it).

Used to eat there some as a kid, usually after church. Then my buddy and I ate there a lot in college bc the portions were so big, we could split an entree for like $4 each. What a steal. And better than 4 items off the $1 menu at Wendy’s.

The food is like hospital cafeteria food on a decent day. Not great. It's all about selling their overpriced kitschy gift shop items. Wife loves it.

I think the breakfast is better than the lunch/dinner.

Oddly, I’m not a fan of their hash browns.
