Thinking about this after listening to a podcast: what was the first movie that really reframed what movies could do? Not “what was the first masterpiece you saw,” but one that challenged your ideas about the medium?

For me, this sort of revelation also happened around age 12 or 13, so it can be dated to approximately the year 2000. I'll give equal credit to: The Matrix, Monty Python, and M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense & Unbreakable).
I also saw both Fargo and Face/Off when I was like nine years old, so they also may have given me an inkling early on
