Do You Have a Library Card?

Post by dad »

i feel like everyone should utilize the library. your tax dollars pay for it, and they have a ton of resources.

some libraries have really cool stuff you can check out. for instance, when my wife and i went to San Francisco a few years ago to visit her brother, we went to the SF Public Library, and you could check out vinyl. that alone convinced my BiL to get a library card.

i use for books, CDs, audiobooks, new yorker articles.

who among us owns a library card? and what cool stuff does your library offer?

Having vinyl records at a library seems like a tremendous waste of tax dollars. They’re taxing everyone including poor people to provide a product that only a few relatively wealthy hobbyists will use.

But yes I have a card at each of the surrounding counties’ libraries as well as the Enoch Pratt library in Baltimore city.

The last time I went to a public library, the philosophy section was stuff like Chicken Soup For The Soul and Deepak Chopra.

I spent 8 years on my local library board.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

We approved a bunch of shit about a big expansion which included a teen center and a giant media center. We also told a bunch of book banners to fuck off.

We were an advisory board, so we didn't do much.

What books were they trying to ban? Also congratulations on learning how to read - that's actually quite an accomplishment in America.

I don’t. I took both the girls to get one when they were younger but didn’t get one for myself. My reading pile is large enough as it is without adding books I have to take back somewhere when I’m finished.

This one always stuck in my head. https://a.co/iFdIMBN

Some Liberal who would never normally want a book removed from the library wanted it removed because there's a page where a teddy bear spanks the doll and that's misogynistic.
