Not one for traveling. But I guess I'd like to visit Hawaii.

Re: The Wanderlust Thread
before covid, when i drove into work every week, i would often wonder what would happen if i didn't take the exit ramp to work. what if i just kept driving and disappeared? as hard as it can be to truly disappear these days.
of course i would snap back to reality, back to realizing how stupid that would be, and how i've got family who rely upon me.

Re: The Wanderlust Thread
Hey dad, I did that once, when I was 18, living alone in an apartment with a job at a factory I hated. I just packed my bags, left a note for my sister that I loved her but this is something I needed to do and I wouldn't be contacting them for a while. Didn't even say bye to anyone, not even my mom. My mom actually called police to look for me but because I was an adult, they had no cause to confront me when they found me multiple states away.
I drove cross country from Missouri up to Seattle, then down to Arizona, where I lived at Arcosanti https://www.arcosanti.org/ for a while, met a girl there, then followed her to New York, where I lived in a hippie commune called Ganas https://www.ganas.org/. She broke up with me when I joined the military, and she died a few years later. I drove through many states. I think Colorado was the most beautiful; the site of the snow capped mountains brought a tear to my eye for some reason. Never saw anything quite like it I guess. I also loved the desert. Very beautiful. I'd like to go back to Arcosanti one day, even though they kicked me out. It was a long time ago.

yeah buddy. got it out of my system. glad i did it cause now i can stay in one place for the rest of my life and be completely content
i subscribe to the old "wherever you go, there you are" maxim. it feels true to me from experience. There's no running away from yourself and your problems. You also find that people are pretty much the same everywhere you go

Of all the places I went to as a child, I’ve been back to many, or at least somewhere similar. But I’ve never been back to the Canary Islands, and have always wanted to see Tenerife. Finally going next week.

Stealing food from the cafeteria mostly. We were bums. Low lifes. Scum of the earth vagabond children. She actually called our parents and had them buy bus tickets to get us outta there.
