Matt Liked This Post.Jorge wrote:I enjoyed the episode but I'm disappointed in the characterization of Jeff. Back when he harassed Jimmy at the mall he seemed menacing and unpredictable, a real threat to his new identity. In this episode they turned him into a bumbling, naive doofus that Jimmy could easily outsmart. The whole "mutually assured destruction" crinkle also feels very forced, as if law enforcement would give a hoot about some tiny mall heist in comparison to capturing wanted fugitive and meth consiglieri Saul Goodman. And yeah, "Jeff doesn't know that!"-- sure. They made him dumb as a bag of rocks in this episode in order for that to work. I dunno. It all felt flimsy. Hopefully this isn't how the Jeff storyline ends up shaking out.

Alright alright, but did you watch the episode from last night? At least we can probably agree it feels like a completely different character, and not just from the recast?
Maybe his mom will be the one who is the threat.

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
i think it might be the recast, Pat Healy is a great actor but his presence is not as menacing or dark as the previous guy. I agree that the character was always written as a stupid kind of guy, hell even his mother says so.
Also im sure Carol Burnett will be more of a danger to Jimmy in some way.

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
yes, of course
you think they rewrote the character because they got a new guy?
seems a little weird.

Re: TV: Better Call Saul
?? No, I'm saying they changed the way the character was written in a disappointing way, not because of the recast

You don’t get a fucking legend like Carol Burnett for one episode near the end of the run and not use her to seriously impact the story. She will be a part of Jimmy’s demise.

I think Jimmy is leaving Omaha and Gene behind. Forget floating through life barely alive living in constant fear of being found out. Go find Kim and be truly alive, even if it can't last forever. Kim was wrong about the fundamental nature of their relationship in her break-up speech, and Jimmy is going to tell her
