I don’t think they’ve had that album in them for almost 30 years. Even if they did attempt it now, it would just be compromised by committee into something just vaguely interesting.

Best case scenario for any future music is off-the-cuff moments of inspiration a la Riot Act or Mirrorball

Every interview with Stone he talks about how he and Jeff are talking a lot with excitement about new ways to record for PJ.

These moments are basically him just happy that there are ways to record any future work with the band completely remote.

A few days ago, one of our readers, Serena Zanolli, met Mike McCready in Prague. During the quick chat they had, Mike revealed that Pearl Jam have a lot of songs that are almost ready and that he’s very satisfied about them. He also added that it won’t be long before a new album is ready, even if there’s still a lot of work to do.

The forthcoming, still untitled new album, will be produced by Andrew Watt who also produced Eddie Vedder’s latest solo record Earthling at the beginning of the year. Andrew Watt produced also many other artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John, Post Malone and The Kid LAROI.

Stone Gossard confirmed in an interview for vwmusicrocks.com what McCready already said. He also added that the band will keep on working on new songs for the next year, before touring the USA.

I believe Jeff. He said that working with Watt was cool, but they also had Josh Evans...so im sure well get some songs produced by Watt, we already know they did some sessions this year, and some stuff worked with Josh Evans.

Autumn 2023: another US leg
Spring 2024: Second US leg
Summer 2024: EU tour

It’s still up for me.

Basically just says feels like a lifetime since we started this run, can’t wait to be home. It wasn’t THAT long of a tour, especially after three years of nothing. I know he’s also said in interviews and pods before that he doesn’t enjoy touring all that much at this stage.

i can't say i blame him. a lot of wear and tear over the course of 30+ years would make any sane person feel that way.

I am sure this has also been a particularly difficult tour. He and Matt got Covid and cancelled a chunk of shows, then Vedder loses his voice in Europe and cancels a few shows. Just up and down this year after not being able to tour for basically 3 years.

he has been pretty vocal about touring.

He said he prefers to make music at the studio and release it than go on tour, but of course he understand they have to tour because of the money involved.
