What movies are you watching?

tremendous. best book that was the sequel to a film that has not ever happened that i've ever watched.

1. Deathly Hallows Part 2 (great finale)
2. Philosopher’s Stone (kids are inexperienced, but the whole world building and casting was phenomenal, even if it was based on a book. Perfect to watch at Christmas)
3. Prisoner of Azkaban (time travel in the story aside, the cast and crew does a beautiful job with this)
4. Half-Blood Prince (the cinematography is second to none, story is well executed)
5. Goblet Of Fire (fun and exciting, but skips too much of the school year)
6. Order of the Phoenix (book is my favorite Harry Potter, movie doesn’t feel right)
7. Deathly Hallows Part 1 (seen on its own it’s too bleak and leaves the story unfinished)
8. Chamber of Secrets (a step back from the first movie and book, but history shows it was just a small one)

This makes total sense to me because Order is my least favorite of the books. I find the film to be a massive improvement in most areas. So I get why it doesn't feel right to you.

My wife isn’t a big fan of the novel either.

I had a blast reading it in my tent during the non-concert/non-party hours at the Roskilde festival in 2007. Maybe it being the first Harry Potter book I read without having seen the movie first helped. Finished the whole series that summer, as Deathly Hallows was released just a week later.

Think Imelda Staunton was a rare HP-series casting mistake as Umbridge.

I loved the book and was highly disappointed in the movie.

Finally watched The Mist. Somehow avoided having the legendary ending spoiled. It reminded me of an old Louis CK bit where he pondered fucking a monkey if there was no one left on Earth. In his hypothetical, he does fuck the monkey. Moments later a car with people drives by and he goes, “Ah, I should have waited.”
