On an album full of awkward transitions, this one takes the cake.McParadigm wrote:lol at sequencing this right in front of Sirens

Interesting song.
sirens just came on and knowing what that sounds like normally, and hearing it from these speakers, I'm not really hearing these songs.

I don't know what I think about it so far - and I'm happy with that assessment

It's wonderful. The bridge is great-- it has the same "open" feeling of the "Brain of J" bridge, in a very claustrophobic song.

There's some really cheesy lyrics here, but otherwise I like the song quite a bit. That island rock bridge comes our of nowhere.

Yeah. Too bad that this song would have to have some of the weakest lyrical moments on the record.solace wrote:There's some really cheesy lyrics here, but otherwise I like the song quite a bit. That island rock bridge comes our of nowhere.

Really like this one. It surprised me in a good way -- sounds different, interesting...I wish I could explain myself better.
Sirens as the next track is kind of jarring, though.

Re: My Father's Son
So I'm jamming along... then the WTF... island rock hits as others have pointed out.
I am not sure I'm going to be able to get over the island rock problem in the midst of this song and if it weren't for that little interlude, I think I'd really like this song after initial listens.
I have to agree that the transition into Sirens is brutal, but I did like the earlier stuff transitioning into My Father's Son.
I have to leave now and go put some Chinese hornets in Eddie's house to sting his children or something to get him pissed off for the next record. I've had my fill of soft cheez rock that litters other places of this album and shoots into the middle of MFS.

Ed's delivery on this actually sounds like Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie Alanis Morisette.

Re: My Father's Son
That bit after the bridge where ed goes batshit insane, might be the best ed has sounded to me in ages. I fucking love the delivery.
