i been to that movieBurtReynolds wrote:I've mostly lost interest in talking about movies. A recent development. I don't know what happened. I used to be obsessed. I'm still surprised by how many movies I actually like, though. Even though most of it seems pretty sinister to me.

Re: What movies are you watching?
I find Yellowstone's ostensibly toxic embrace of traditional masculinity as a solution to capitalism's degradations far easier to stomach than the winking genre-bending liberal platitudes of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Yellowstone is dumb and it assumes its viewers are dumb, but EEAAO has palpable contempt for anyone watching it.Malloy wrote:you’re a much better observer of the culture than i am.Mickey wrote:Yeah for sure. Have you seen the American TV program Yellowstone?Malloy wrote:or at least complicatedly bad art.Mickey wrote:Sometimes bad art is better than good art.
seems like shows like Yellowstone and Billions are much purer expressions of the dominant us culture, but you have to have the stomach for them.

What I love is that is not just a misperception based on misleading marketing. It's something the movie itself is aware of and we almost get to see in real time the movie decide not to go in that direction. Cage descends into this underground fighting ring and we know what's coming and then...Pig

Re: What movies are you watching?
I've seen the first two more than a few times, but the third only once. I think they are an exciting spectacle, but don't always grab me like they do others. I will watch the next two though for sure.Anders wrote:Did you have a good time? Will you watch the trilogy?lennytheweedwhacker wrote:The Fellowship of the Ring.
