Im also getting over the chorus for INfallible. I wanted it to be something else but im getting used to it and it is now becoming a better song. I think the verse is still the magic in the song though...
Agreed on both statements.
The Infallible chorus reminds me of Elton John. That said, I actually like it after a few repeats. I kinda expected the song to be darker.
We all did, I think. Ah well.

Really no precedent for an opening track being the best song. Certainly songs like 'Dave's Song' and 'Last Exit' packed a lot of punch and made a huge impact, but you can find better tracks on those albums.

'Getaway' may be in rarified air here.

Mind your manners   ok but the chorus lets it down for me
My fathers son  ? I think, i disliked that bridge so gonna have to listen again. Not sure about eds singing in the first verse, but he sounds awesome later.
Sirens :finger: :finger: :finger: fuck this song
Infallible :finger: :finger: :finger: insanely dissapointed, fuck that chorus
Pendulum  love that ending, wish it was longer
Swallowed whole   eh its alright, can't see myself listening to it all that much
LTRP :finger: :finger: :finger: fuck this song too
Yellow moon   :finger: I dunno wasn't what i was expecting. Really disliking the guitar wankery. But quite like other parts, think i liked the chorus.
Future Days :finger: :finger: :finger: Bad song, not enough :finger: in the world for o'brien and his fucking piano.

So maybe i can find a decent EP in there. Loads of shitty/weird bridges and choruses and cheesetastic vocal melodies. I guess thats mostly Eds fault, wtf has he been listening to? and quite a bit also  o'briens  fault.

Theres a chord at the start of yellow moon that reminds me of sirens, for the life of me i cant understand why LTRP and Sirens aren't swapped.
I forgot lightning bolt:  MEH, way too long, only bit i really like is the groovy guitar.

I always thought Yield was a mess of a sequence, especially in the second half.

I really like the SBM arrangement. Sounds like it's from the 50s.

After second listens:

My Father's Son - Not feeling it. Bridge is odd. Singing about DNA is just awkward. Seems like ed was trying too hard to rhyme.

Infallible - The opening grabs me right away and then...where are you going....oh...you were waving at the person behind me. Maybe we can still be friends. I wanted this to go harder and it backed off. Still probably my favorite of the songs I hadn't heard. The last 1/3 of the song is the strongest.

Pendulum - wtf. This is a nice little experiment but, kind of unlistenable. This should have been the last track on the album. Actually I think I might love this as an album closer, but here, it just kills the energy of this album. I can't imagine them playing this at a show...maybe as an opener. The ahh ah ahah ahs?

SBM - Why? It is a nice arrangement, but I'd love to hear something else here. I'd have preferred Tonight You Belong to Me.

Yellow Moon - This doesn't seem like the 'mid tempo' song I was expecting after the interviews. I like where this goes in the middle. I think it will grow on me. 'Yellow Moon on the Rise' just doesn't seem to have any emotional energy behind it. There is a ton of great moon imagery that could have gone here, but it doesn't seem to do anything but sit there.

FD - Why II? They could have sold out to the strings her and gone a little 'mountain music' but they didn't. I hate the piano in this song.

I love all the other songs...but these are just not hitting me where I wanted them to.

It's not a traditional first song, so it's well positioned to be unique as the record's best tune, which it is.

I didn't say better [yet], I was just saying that for those that think none of these songs go together, I would point to a Yield (or even NC, Binaural, or RA) and say that those songs don't go together, but it turned out okay.

Yellow Moon is still the favourite. It's like a warm pair of slippers.

Getaway rocks but it is not the best song on this.

I think the stream is the leak.
