Re: Infallible
I do wish the climax before the outro verse (which I like) could be a bit louder.
This is a really good song. I think I ended up liking this more than pendulum

i quite like it (second listen). i have no idea how Incubus sounds and i guess that's a good thing. i don't mind the chorus and the cowbell. i mean, i like them.

I keep hearing the change in the chorus moving into cold confession.

Re: Infallible
keep on locking your doors
keep on building your floors
keep on just as before
pay disasters no mind
didn't get you this time
no friends left at the crime
Our ship's come in and it's sinking
Of everything that's possible, in the hearts and minds of men
somehow it is the biggest things that keep on slipping right through our hands
By thinking we're infallible, we are tempting fate instead
Time we best begin, here at the ending
want a third second chance
put your faith in big hands
pay no more than a glance
all good things come to an end,
this could be good as it gets,
hows the view from the fence?
You think we've been here before,
you are mistaken
Of everything that's possible, in the hearts and minds of men
when progress could be plausible in the verse we curse ourselves
By thinking we're infallible, we are tempting fate instead
Time we best begin, here at the ending

Re: Infallible
Fantastic verses-- a little weak in the chorus, but it's not a "Marker in the Sand"-size capitulation.

This may be the only song on here that feels like it belongs with Sirens.

That little Mike guitar break/instrumental bridge sounds *far* too small. The song should explode at that point.
I disagree, I think it simmers quite nicely; it's got a ghostly vibe I dig a lot.

Re: Infallible
Love it. Exactly what I'm looking for from this band at this point.

Fills me with sense memories of standing next to the shitty little toy section at Hy Vee, hoping my son will get distracted by something so I can move on to the frozen pizzas.

This chorus becomes much better when you stop needing it to be dark. It's got a "Whiter Shade of Pale" feel to it.

Re: Infallible
This song pisses me off. It's my own fault. I thought it would be almost the complete opposite of what it is after hearing the sound check.

Re: Infallible
yup. I went for it on the second listen and it was great. There were a few songs on this album that required me to abandon my preconceptions of what they should sound like. That's unusual. Not sure what it means.harmless wrote:This chorus becomes much better when you stop needing it to be dark. It's got a "Whiter Shade of Pale" feel to it.

Re: Infallible
Well I don't know what'll happen in the long-term, but at the very least it means the listen was surprising and even exciting. The big question for me is whether the whole thing can be assimilated into the PJ catalogue, or whether it's a good album by a different band.stip wrote:yup. Re: Infallible
I don't think it's a bad chorus, or the wrong tone....just a little uninteresting sonically compared with those crazy-good verses.harmless wrote:This chorus becomes much better when you stop needing it to be dark. It's got a "Whiter Shade of Pale" feel to it.

This chorus actually does sound like elton john.
Its like LTRP, with the decent verses and boner-killer chorus. Except this chorus is killing an even bigger boner.
That last chorus whatever reminds me of god gave rock and roll to you

I will say on my second listen the chorus sounds more at home.stip wrote:yup. I went for it on the second listen and it was great. Fair enough. Re: Infallible
I think this is the closest style Eddie has gotten to sounding like Christina Aguilera. Talk about experimental.
