the only ones out there that are 320 Kbps are poorly cut transcodes.

it does... i hope they place it more wisely in the live setlist...

after my night walk peace and quiet listen I actually think this placement makes sense. I'll talk about why in a few.

I think it may have worked better just before FD. Feels like the biggest emotional cathartic release of the album and settling down to FD afterwards would have been a stronger finish. FD doesnt feel earned by the time we get to it...

so...wow, im kinda shocked. its kinda all over the place, but i think thats what i love about this album, and really pearl jam in general. i wanna compare it to dmb's big whiskey, but its too early to make that kinda comparison. im just happy pearl jam is making interesting and exciting music that inspires me again. im pretty fucking pumped about this thing.

My biggest issue with it is its a trash song. If you absolutely must drop the ball and include a trash song on your album, try to push it to the back.

When does Kevin Davis turn up to tell us we're all wrong and he knows this record better than we all do? And has more dogs than us combined?

After one listen I like it better than Backspacer too. Like Pearl Jam most of the stronger songs are front loaded. Not once did I think "ugh, that's awful". I liked both Lightning Bolt & Future Days better than the Wrigley ones I had heard. FD isn't a bad song but it's somewhat similar to their last closer. The End is the better song to me but certainly bleaker. Getaway is great and probably my favorite of the set.
I'll have to get a few more listens to go into more detail but I can definitely see this one getting a lot of repeat airplay over the next few weeks. A couple things? Let the Record Play sounds to me like a honky tonk Johnny Guitar; neither one I particularly liked. Sleeping By Myself worked better than I expected but it does have that B-side appeal to it. I wonder what it knocked off? Several of the songs in the middle of the record have a real chance to grow on me, just don't ask me to single out one or two of them right now.
A likeable, mature, solid rock record. Nothing particularly new by a group that has been around the block a few times but comfortable none the less.

This record really is all over the place, but almost all these songs are strong. Can't decide if Infallible or Yellow Moon are the best, but Yellow Moon may very well be their strongest slow song in a long long time
