This reminds me of OTE structurally.
It's far better though.

Does Ed say something about a falling breast?..weird...
A five star song, if it wasn't for that horrible, garage band fade out.

How is it that only 8 people gave this song one star?

Re: New Song: Lightning Bolt
I feel the first chorus. Should have been "you'll never let her go, let her gooooo." Then the second time chorus would be "you'll never let her go, she's a lightning bolt"

LBC mixed with Evacuation. It's funny, I compare it to LBC (and several songs here to Riot Act) because in the past, it would've really rocked out harder, but it doesn't here. And that's OK.

I'm enjoying this one much more after a few listens. Don't like that goofy keyboard effect that pops up here and there.

Nope. I'd love to hear BoB's reason for putting that in. It adds nothing.EJ wrote:I'm enjoying this one much more after a few listens. Don't like that goofy keyboard effect that pops up here and there.

I don't know if I hear any production problems on this song. I think it's a good song, as opposed to a great one, but it probably sounds as good as it's capable of getting here, at least in terms of how it was captured.

Does the intro to this song have to sound so stupid? It's so thin and I feel like I'm walking somewhere at night when suddenly a creepy dude that was hiding in a bush starts singing this song to me in his creepy voice. Then the intro is over and I like everything else about the song.

I was never convinced it was "love in..." but it might well be.stip wrote:"love in breast"harmless wrote:"lovely breast"Pine tree wrote:Does Ed say something about a falling breast?..weird...

If that's not reinforcing rape culture, nothing is.

Re: New Song: Lightning Bolt
I like the fact that there's very little adornment in that intro other than the guitar and voice. I definitely like that Matt isn't bashing the hats and bassdrum like he was at Wrigley. All of that sounds very Yield, a subtle start from which to build the song gradually into an epic. The problem is, Ed's voice doesn't sound like Yield anymore. It's not subtle and mumbly enough, it's too overly dramatic to give much sensitivity to a soft intro. It announces itself too brashly, like an old drunk.

I cant remember the line but couldn't it be 'loving'?harmless wrote:I was never convinced it was "love in..." but it might well be.stip wrote:"love in breast"harmless wrote:"lovely breast"Pine tree wrote:Does Ed say something about a falling breast?..weird...

Thats my least favourite 'new' ed voice thing. Though he sounds way better here than on backspacer. I imagine if pendulum had been on backspacer i would have found it unlistenable.harmless wrote:I like the fact that there's very little adornment in that intro other than the guitar and voice. Re: New Song: Lightning Bolt
I wouldn't mind a small intro like that if it were produced differently and Eddie was singing a little differently. It sounds like a creepy demo that Ed made in a bedroom and then the song was tacked onto that. Yield-Ed would definitely help. Doesn't help that it comes directly after Sirens which sounds so full.harmless wrote:I like the fact that there's very little adornment in that intro other than the guitar and voice. Yeah, Sirens is in the wrooooong plaaaaaace which won't help when I play it to my wife and try to convince her it's a good song. The way it comes after MFS, it's like a slapstick comedian slipping up on a banana skin.Mike wrote:I wouldn't mind a small intro like that if it were produced differently and Eddie was singing a little differently.
