Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
I really think they should have used the music video cut on the album...it just sounds clearer and more powerful. I dunno why they didn't use it. The guitar especially sounds better by a pretty good amount.

Worth mentioning how much better Sirens sounds with headphones on. Like, 500% better. I liked the song to begin with but I really like it in the headphones.

Damnit, this song has me now. The solo really sounds great in the context of the whole album.

This song is hurting me in a different way now.
It's the sore thumb of the whole record.
It's like going over a huge speed numb you didn't see on the road.
It throws the flow completely with its placement

I actually like this one. Just completely misplaced in the track order. Well, that could be said for just about every song on this one.
I'm really hearing Counting Crows in this one.

Has this tune gained much traction on the airwaves? I thought it had the potential to be a hit but here in Toronto, 102.1 (who are usually big pearl jam supporters) don't seem to be playing it much.

Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
It's weird, but in the context of the album, Sirens took a little temporary nap. It suddenly felt overshadowed by other songs, and what I loved about it seemed less pronounced. I'm playing it now and it's just woken up again. So that's nice. Maybe the album is beginning to make sense as a single entity.

I'm hoping this happens for me too, cos right now this record sounds terribly disjointed.

Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
It's our fault for becoming so familiar with the four leaked songs.
This record will always have a disjointed "jukebox" feel, but I quite like that. There's not a single song that "fits". Thematically and lyrically though, I think there's some sense in the order, even if not stylistically.

I definitely feel a difference listening to the new songs as opposed to the half I've played to death

Dogs can hear the Sirens much earlier than humans, due to their far superior sense of hearing. I bet that guy also heard the circus so profound at least a week before Ed did, if not more.KurtLeon wrote:

What does that mean, anyway? "Hear the circus so profound"?
"Circus so profound"?
"Circus so profound"?

Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
plat, it could just be that the lights of a city at night (especially with sirened vehicals moving about) look reminiscent of a fucking circus to a songwriter sitting in a hotel room writing ideas well past his bedsy time.
