Re: Talk about your day thread
Finished a 2 month long project to clear the overgrown front hedge. Fully cut back to ground level now, last tip run in the morning.
Made good use of the trailer hire. Dropped one load of hedge waste off then picked up the "hedge replacement" - 15 clumping bamboo plants to space out at 1.5m lots. Just need to move some retic and organise for a dude with a bobcat to come through and fully remove the stumps and some soil so we can bring in some clean fill.
Sitting here out front feeling hell exposed but really happy with my progress and enjoying looking at the very satisfactory line of bamboo plants before me.
I took some cancer treatment frustration out on the hedge. It was a really big job but kinda cathartic in a way. Glad it's fucking gone.

Sometimes it just feels good to finish a project and bask in it’s doneness. Good deal, Higgs.

Wife is on day 20 of 30 straight days of radiation. After chemo I thought this would be a walk in the park. It isn't.knee tunes wrote:Higgs wrote:

it's actually illegal to plant in neighborhoods around here now
it can start to pierce gas lines, and screw up foundations

Re: Talk about your day thread
Up at 4:30am because my kid somehow completely peed through her nighttime diaper. Immediately realized the power was out (staying at my sister’s house in WI), so addressed the diaper via flashlight. Put the kid in bed with me since her pack n play was saturated; she wouldn’t go back to sleep, so gave her my phone to watch Cocomelon and shut my eyes for another hour or so until the sun came up.
Headed downstairs, kids all had leftover birthday cake for breakfast since it’s my nephew’s birthday today. Gathered stuff and drove to my folks’ condo on the other side of town to visit and make some calls to see about getting my dog to the vet for an ultrasound. While there, neighbor stopped by to ask if their basement was flooded as well (it’s been pouring for over a day now); went down and indeed the carpeting was soaked. Spoke to the neighbor some more then helped me Mom get on the horn with a company to come out and assess the damage, as well as a call to her homeowner’s insurance to get that process started.
Gave up on a local ultrasound and called our vet to see about doing so in Chicago; she offered to contact an ER near my location to see if they could accommodate. She called back a bit later to say it’s all set, so waiting there now. Glad I can do it in WI so the kid can stay with the grandparents since it may be awhile. Was not looking forward to doing this in Chicago with her in tow (wife is out of town all week on business).
TL: DR… this day can get fucked.

Re: Talk about your day thread
Fuck me..... One of my stepsons has planned himself a trip down south later this week to go and catch up with mates, and to get away from his brother - been planning it for a while now and the brother knew that this trip was to get away from him for a bit. Just today the brother booked tickets to head to the exact same town on the same dates etc. Oh boy did things kick off here. Niether of them can control their emotions so there was yelling, tears.....little bit of fisty cuffs, more tears. PRetty much though - at the end of the day, the brother (who just bought tickets) is being a cunt and he bought whatever's coming on himself

Re: Talk about your day thread
Last night after the show I made my way down to the 9/11 Memorial. I got off on the wrong stop and wound up walking down Broadway in the rain after midnight for over half an hour. I could have got back on the subway, but I wanted my Holden Caulfield moment.
Got down there and everything was roped off. I didn’t see the pillars of light meant to represent the 2 towers. Who the fuck knows if they were even lit? It was technically the 12th when I finally got there.
Took the subway back uptown to my hotel and spent 20 minutes using a hairdryer to dry my shoes since I had no others and the next day was a travel day.
This morning I got up a little early. I had brought 3 one gallon ziplocks with me on this trip so I could bring some soft pretzels home for my wife and kids. Pretzel guy was outside my hotel at 1 a.m., but he and all his brethren disappear and make room for bagel guys in the morning. I didn’t know this. I walked around for a hour with no luck.
The worst part was I was so busy straining myself to find pretzels that I stepped off the curb and fucking Ned Nederlandered right into an ankle deep puddle. My whole travel day was with a soaked right foot. So uncomfortable. Figured I’d have trench foot when I got home. I’m such a daft little twat.
