I like Tigers / Dodgers
both have great starting pitching, with strong offenses

What was the reasoning behind not walking Pedroia? First base open, one out. That's a pretty easy call. To neither walk Pedroia nor play the infield in was basically handing the Red Sox the tying run in the ninth there.
Yeah that was weird.

As long as the Sox are eliminated, I'll be happy about this World Series.

And let's go A's!

Why in the hell would he give up the dh when he had fuld on the bench to go into rf? Then the whole pitching to pedroia with the infield back up one in the 9th in a must win game. That might have been the most poorly managed game I've ever seen, but because he puts his arm around the sports writers hes a genius. He's Ozzie guillen with glasses if you ask me.

Tactically, Maddon is usually pretty good.

8 strait Coxian post season failures without even a modest series win in a row for the Braves who yet again, blew a season without their best pitcher on the mound.

and yet again the front office will be overly joyed that they won 96 games and they get to put up another empty worthless flag on the facade.

42 strikeouts......amazing in their futility. They did that without Uggla even, That takes some doing to make that little contact in a postseason series.

How the fuck do they manage to win 96???

How the fuck does a professional baseball team manage to draft and develop not one #1 or #2 pitcher and fill a roster with 3s 4s 5's and relievers?

Enjoy the American League Brian McCann. It's been fun watching you mostly.

If he does ten nonsense things in a game and one of them works, he's a genius, people ignore the 9 times they have up a run because his entire field was out of position.

Uh... the massive shifts he employs are pretty effective and most teams in the league do it to some extent. Don't get me wrong, I've questioned Maddon at least a few times this season in games against the Jays, but doing something that goes against tradition or standard managing practices doesn't make it "nonsense".

What are your thoughts on Brian Butterfield's massive defensive shifts?

He sacrificed the DH because the other option was sliding Delmon Young into Myers spot. But if he did that Young would now be the 9th guy up and as it stood and probably wouldn't see another at bat. Maddon couldn't afford to push potential game tying hitters to the back of the lineup. It made sense.

Why couldn't he have put fuld in instead of young, he put fuld in the next inning. I don't think saving fuld as a pinch runner is worth giving up the dh.

Jeez, what a brilliant thought. I wonder who the only person on twitter making that point was from the get go.

Because ultimately i think he knew that with Lobaton and Fuld still available the game would have to likely go to the 14th or so inning to have to worry about needing a 3rd pinch hitter for that pitcher spot.
