This was undoubtedly one of the best shows I’ve been to out of 7
I’ve been to Brooklyn 1 and 2 2013
Global citizen festival in 2015
Msg 1 and 2 in 2016
Fenway 1 in 2018
Brooklyn 2 might be my favorite but this might be the best in terms of performance and energy. The crowd was so into it and the band had soooo much energy.
Many highlights but better man was the best imo. Sonic reducer and RITFW were surprisingly great.
I wish black had been played instead of purple rain but it was still good. Black would have been amazing with this crowd but i can’t complain too much. The few gigaton songs were fun.
Apparently sad and faithful and corduroy were listed as options on the set list (along with river cross but good riddance). Sad would have been cool but corduroy is one of the ones that I think live just isn’t the same. I’m pretty happy with the set list we got for a hit heavy one. Only I’m open and come back were new to me besides purple rain and gigaton but I like come back. And release garden and then present tense and porch so early on set such an awesome tone.

Other than a few flubs, this show was epic. Probably the best show I have seen them play since MSG in 2010. Setlist really flowed well. Very memorable show!

Release and Garden, tuned down:
First time for both, I think.
Porch and RVM returned back to standard tuning as compared to last time each was played.

Looking back at my vids maybe Ed was singing along on better man but the crowd was so loud you could barely hear him it’s hard to tell

It appears Jeff may have abandoned the upright bass for good.

Re: 2022-09-11: New York, NY (MSG)
So last night was pretty damn awesome. The first 5 on stools was much more energetic than I expected it to be, in part because the crowd energy was amazing, haven’t seen anything like that at a Pearl Jam show in a very long time. Release and Garden might have been tuned down but they sounded great. During Garden, Mike seemed to bring a slightly bluesier sounding solo. Come Back kind of jumped off that with Mike again, and Eddie sounded good on this one, though the interruption at the start hurt the flow a bit. Present Tense was hands down the best I have ever heard them play it, and the transition from sitting on stools to standing, and then the crowd getting so into it that the floor started bouncing (this really happens and does not happen every time a show is played - I have seen plenty of shows in this building where it doesn’t) was other worldly in person. Jumping into Porch was a big surprise, and the middle jam being broken up by a fight was annoying. I made a comment to my wife that I remember all these people when we were 25 years younger - grow up people. The place continued bounce though.
The middle part of the set was very good. Dissident was a surprise. Who Ever Said sounded really good but the crowd seemed to be taking a breath. Seven O’Clock and Dance of the Clairvoyants were great, though the looping the vocals that was done at SHN last year was not done here. Better Man was good but given that I have seen them really play amazing versions here, this wasn’t the absolute best of them, but it was very good.
The end of the first set was completely bonkers. Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns was beautiful and the juxtaposition of them firing into Sonic Reducer - I mean hands down best I have seen them play that song. Was absolute fire. After a long diatribe Rearviewmirror was really quite great, with an end jam that split the difference between those long outtro SS from the late 90s/early 00s and the shorter ones they seemed to do in the 10s.
The encore was just unbelievable from start to finish. Small Town to the back was better than expected (I thought they were gonna do Last Kiss so basically happy with their decision there). Why Go had some of the craziest energy. Evolution felt that the band and crowd reliving ‘03. Purple Rain was amazing - sorry folks, but they sounded really great on that cover. Alive, Rockin’ and the Star Spangled Banner with the lights on was a great finish. And there was moments when the band was just on another level. Chad Smith was having a blast on Rockin’. And Mike bringing it home with Star Spangled Banner was appropriate for this night - the circumstances and the themes of Eddie’s rantings and ravings, and because I thought this show was the best I have heard Mike play from start to finish in a show. He was in a really great place, as was Eddie. For a bunch of guys pushing 60 who started the show on stools, they brought it last night. I think the show was about 2:25 or 2:30, so shorter but not appreciably from other sets at the Garden.
