San Diego '06 should be considered when looking for hidden gems.
I admit, I have bias from attending the show, but the guys were all on fire that night, and really playing to Vedder and Cameron's "hometown" crowd, making various references during the evening. Also a handful of surprise rarities (Satan's Bed, Leash and Crown of Thorns all at the same show?!)
Long Road opened the first encore, and Ed shared the story of how the story of how the song came to be, after hearing about one of his favorite teacher's passing away, while they were recording with Neil Young. He made a touching speech on the power educators can have on the kids they teach, and announced that the bands charity of the evening was Ed's old high school where they were naming the new drama theater after the teacher who passed. There weren't many dry eyes in the house.
Cameron later had his old music teachers come out and play, surfer Kelly Slater joined them on Rocking in the Free World... It was probably as close as you could get to a hometown show, if you weren't in Seattle! ha ha

I've mentioned these before I think, but Nashville 2003 is an absolute gem of a show. Ed's banter is great and the band is tight. Nice little set too!
Adelaide night 1 from 2006 is also one of my favourites to listen to. It's almost the end of the tour and Ed is just destroying every song, sounding great. The opening run of Small Town-Go-DTE-God's Dice-Once-Immortality is just perfect.
I wasn't at either of these shows either.

That San Diego ‘06 show was indeed one I listened to a lot and has always been a bootleg favorite of mine - though sadly I was not there.

That's great, I'm jealous! Ed sounds ferocious during "Go" and "DTE"!Birds in Hell wrote:I was at this show, and it was just as good in person.BootsToAsses wrote:Adelaide night 1 from 2006 is also one of my favourites to listen to. Mike's solo during Immortality is also beautiful.
