The praise for this album is really getting over the top. I'm starting to think that you guys will accept any pile of feces that is flung at you.

How else do you describe someone who has different tastes than you and is vocal about it on a forum deigned specifically to talk about those tastes?
I don't hate this album like I hate Avocado and it definitely has more depth and character than BS, but I still have the feeling that I will never listen to it after today.

This post makes my brain hurt. Pink Floyd were approx. 100 times the band Pearl Jam were (or ever will be) and "Learning to Fly" isn't even a bad song.
Fucking chud.

Listened to the whole thing twice now. I'm still giving it a 5/10 which I feel is generous.
Getaway and Sirens are the best things on there (even if Getaway sounds like a re-hash of WWS at times). Lightning Bolt is OK although it sounds like a song they've written 5 or 6 times before. I don't hate MYM anymore but it's still pretty derivative and unremarkable.
The album as a whole is extremely disjointed. It sounds like a mash of Riot Act and Backspacer so that might explain why. With a handful of exceptions Ed's lyrics have never been so banal. Pendulum, Yellow Moon and Infallible all show promise (esp. Yellow Moon) but are half-baked and pretty forgettable. Had they worked on those more and released them on the "No Code II" album Stone mentioned they might have had something.
P.S. SBM is still so God awful. It sounds like radio commercial background music.

Here are my thoughts after a half day with the album.
I really like a lot of these songs. I think I might love some of them. It is a really strong album. I think it would have been better...much better....with out all the damn piano and BoB stuff. I just like things a little crunchier. Now...It worked on Sirens. After my first wtf with that song I've grown to love it. But Future days and SBM are not growing on me in the slightest...yet.
The 'new' songs are growing on me. I really like infallible.
I think Getaway is the best on the album.
I burned a copy for my car with Pendulum as the closer and injected Cold Confession and Let it Ride in to the track list. Bumped FD and SBM to the end of the cd and will probably skip them most of the time.

i figured you'd jump all over this one like it was an australian lesbian.
I mean, it's like an Australian lesbian. But the kind that's kind of stocky and has dangerous looking lip sores.
This is a fantastic post.
