Maybe the real reason they stuck to stripped down live shows was to rake in more of that sweet, sweet cash.

So, let’s assume that once you subtract promoter/booking/venue/insurance/taxes/electricians/power/medical/catering, about $35 of that goes to the band.

That puts around $15m on the table. Subtract crew salaries and all transport costs from that, then funnel some of what’s left into your recurring costs (retainers, storage, office and recording space). Divide up what’s left.

After everything is said and done, what do we think? More than 1.5 but less than 2, each?
Are you getting that subtraction from anywhere? Also curious how much side musicians like Boom and now Josh get paid per show. Is Josh getting paid double because he's also opening the shows?
From a promoter who was a family friend and who I did local crew work for. He was booking Dylan, Korn, Perfect Circle, and Aerosmith shows around South Dakota and Minnesota in the 98-2004 time frame.

There was still a lot of photocopying and faxing of expense reports and contracts back then, and someone had to do it.

I’d pay a few extra bucks for my ticket to get Pluralone off the bill.

That's mean.

I think Pluralone was a good opening to get everything warmed up for the main act.

i don't hate josh and boom, but i just don't hear their value-add in the live shows

initially i thought having boom was cool, and i thought his solos were good

now i don't think that anymore

and josh's triangle playing just gets lost in the noise of the 12 other people on stage now

Josh's contributions to vocals are very noticable and very welcome.

Josh is actually noticeable, and in a good way. I enjoy his addition, whether it’s temporary or not. I have no idea if they even plug in Boom’s keyboard. I heard him once in 3 shows, and he was only bc Ed happened to introduce him and he just banged the keyboard.

i had that exact thought about Boom, especially when he played a song with Josh. I didn't hear anything!

what a odd thing to think about
I think the monetary side of the music industry is interesting. Sorry about your uncurious mind!
:haha: the monetary side of most things are boring and soulless

with that said, there's no way boom or josh make as much as the rest of the band lol

A troubling development.

I'm not at all against the idea of having auxiliary musicians playing with the band, but I'd prefer it was someone (almost anyone) else.
