Seriously, my wife and I talk all the time about eventually getting a winter home somewhere once the kids are gone (we eventually want to establish residency in Michigan at the lake), but can’t agree on anywhere. We abhor the southern states because it’s like 1935 down there with bat-shit-crazy Republican freaks. California doesn’t work because of the high taxes and it’s an Armageddon weather / climate wise. That doesn’t leave many options.

Look into Mexico, why not? Unless you or she start having health problems around that time, wouldn’t trust the hospital system there.
