It's not playing here opening weekend. We have one multiplex, and one single-screen theater for art-house/old print stuff.
These big city guys don't know how hard it is for us out here in the provinces
You guys getting the Scream 2 Anniversary print?! :ohyeah!:
Are they re-releasing Scream 2?!
either that or Bozeman is finally getting its first run

Babysitting availability is practically a luxury and Scream 2 does not make the cut! But I'd pull it together for Triangle of Sadness.
Fair

Probably the better call.

Triangle of Sadness looks promising. I loved Force Majeure (and the US remake totally missed the mark). The Square was disappointing overall but had some incredible scenes.

I will say that I think about the Elizabeth Moss condom scene in The Square all the time.

still, if we need to compare him, lets compare him with a tv director.

Its a different medium and different way of storytelling.

what comparison are you referring to? i didn't think i had made one.

but i'll make one now. bill hader has seen more movies and has better taste than all of us in this thread. he might not be a great director, but you can tell what his sensibility is. same with gosling. Lost River is a bad movie, but at least he's interested in stealing from/aping the right people

i agree with vg that the film & television forms are importantly different. but they have enough in common -- they are both sequential art forms, for instance -- that you can make some comparisons. you can compare editing choices, compositional choices, etc.

so while i didn't intend to make a comparison between baker & hader, or hader & gosling, i don't think it'd be completely mistaken to talk about each one's general sense of aesthetics and note similarities & differences, while simultaneously keeping in mind the conventions & constraints imposed by the form(s) in question.

one last thing -- what i found so promising about the first two seasons of Barry were their explicitly cinematic quality, particularly the second season.

the most recent season dissuaded me from that idea. i dont think it's the best show on television because it's become just that: yet another television series. but formally for a minute it felt like more than another episodic black comedy.
