in a perfect world they'd fund rehab programs at the same time they correct marijuana laws. i hope that ends up entering the conversation, but i'm sure people are still going to lump pot in the same category as meth, crack and any number of opioids.

How many people are doing federal time for simple marijuana possession? I'm guessing approximately 0 unless they plead down from something more serious.

A pardon does more than free one from prison or parole, no? Your record is cleared, you're no longer a felon, and all the bologna associated with that

this is about cleaning records as much as it is releasing people from prison, if not more so. it's a shame it takes an election to get things done, but here we are. it's the right thing to do. finally.

Apparently, no one was still in prison on simple possession charges. This was about clearing felony charges for people who struggled with housing and employment.

In California's experience, legalization ends up with more illegal (often cartel run) grows. Tax rate has to be pretty low for it to go any other way.spike wrote:It’s mostly about moving closer to legalized marijuana, and the sweet tax revenue it will bring in.

And more illegal grows than before legalization? Care to share a citation for that one?
