Re: Transgender Rights
Give me a fucking break. No one's issuing a new birth certificate. Call the kids what they want to be called.
If more than one kid per state is brave enough to ask the teacher to call them by a different pronoun that they are forced to use at home, it'll be shocking but society will probably hold together.

Five year olds don't have preferred pronouns unless their parents or teachers tell them they do.

Re: Transgender Rights
Then I guess they'll answer that question with exactly the correct pronoun.Bi_3 wrote:Five year olds don't have preferred pronouns unless their parents or teachers tell them they do.
You act like the school is assigning new names and genders to everyone in the classroom. When my kids go to school, they are their own person. If the teacher asks James what name he wants to be called, and he says "Jim," his teacher is going to call him Jim. No matter what his parents call him.
Kindergarteners can't even write on the damned form. So, I doubt many of them will be writing, "I'd prefer you call me Ze/Zey/Zem, but use he/his/him if you're talking to my parents, oh, and by the way, can you find me a referral to a pediatricians office that does bottom gender reassignment surgery so that I can have my penis lopped off and start to live my true life as a girl by fucking the shit out of the boys in this class?"
Kids have autonomy at school. This form recognizes that. That's it. That STATE isn't renaming children. A kind and loving teacher is treating children with respect.
If you send your boy to school, and they are so confidentially expressing as a girl that they want the whole classroom to treat them as such, and they're savvy enough to know they'd better make sure no one else accidentally let's it slip to their parents that they're using "she" ... the kid didn't fuck up. The school didn't fuck up. You fucked up.

Not to mention some extraordinarily messed up things are going to happen for anyone to get standing to sue. I see we've added , "the courts will sort it out" to the, "It's not happening", "It's happening and it's good" progression.Bi_3 wrote:And yet it was passed, then lauded and signed by the Governor who is the likely 2024 blue team presidential candidate.B wrote:That's gonna crumble under judicial review.

And no one thinks he's going to be President. Democrats hate him. He would've been recalled if the average Republican candidate wasn't a drooling fascist zombie.

Awful, no wonder this is getting dragged so bad. Comparing pediatric cancer to gender dysphoria is pretty low.

He's not comparing those diseases. He's comparing whose advice the Attorney General is willing to take when she's seeking advice on something the considers a "real" disease.Bi_3 wrote:B wrote:

This is how every journalist should interview public figures. "That is just a very made up number." Fantastic!

What he does is assert that by not allowing chemical and surgical intervention in minors they are not following APA guidelines like they would in areas like pediatric cancer. The Arkansas law in question (626) does not ban mental health services or social transitions, which are the first steps of APA/AMA guidelines for minors. APA/AMA guidelines do not mandate chemical and/or surgical interventions in minors. This is a deliberate misrepresentation of the term "gender affirming care":
And to then imply that the fatality rate of untreated GD is somehow comparable to that of pediatric cancer is just ignorant.
But I would ask you for a minute to put this "no treatment ensures suicide" canard aside for a moment (where did it come from?) and consider this: Does it make sense that a group of people who cannot be trusted to buy Sudafed or spray paint, get a tattoo, buy their parents cigarettes, watch porn, drive after midnight, or serve beer in an Applebee's... who are in the midst of unpredictable, rapid, and dramatic changes in both mind and body... does it make sense that this group can fully comprehend and consent to a lifetime of medical interventions and pharmaceutical treatments? Or does it make sense to love, support, watch, and wait until they are legal adults since between 60 and 90% of GD kids desist and are actually just gay?
Edit: These are the medical professionals Stewart is referring to: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7kqndw
Edit edit: Same person, 11 year olds can consent to permanently ending fertility and will adopt: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7kqndq

Re: Transgender Rights
Stewart's not implying any equality between cancer and gender dysphoria. He's simply framing the situation in something that the Attorney General would see as a "medical" issue, to make her admit that she has no problem with this law because she doesn't see dysphoria as a real issue. A viewpoint she supports when she makes up the fact that 98% of kids get over it.
Your list of all the things that kids can't do on their own is pointless given that no one here has endorsed treatment in absence of parent permission. We're talking about supportive care with the assistance of medical doctors and parental permission. Maybe some of those parents should consult with an ostracized Canadian college professor about whether or not their kids are just gay, but most probably shouldn't bother.
I don't know what the fuck video you posted, but it's not the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Associate, or the Endocrine Society, which is the only organizations he cites. Just because you found a video of some wackadoodle talking about gender choice in infants doesn't mean anyone here gives a shit about that, and I'm not sure what a California hospital has to do with a law in Arkansas.
The debate is whether the state should unilaterally prevent teens from working with their parents and doctors to transition in a safe, appropriate manner, and you're hunting down arguments against transitioning babies and teen smoking. Nearly every word of your post puts arguments into people's mouths that no one made.
