McP's love of FD is going to turn out to have been some huge Rickroll, I just know it.

At this point I'm not sure if it should be retracked, but here's a stab:

Infallible
Mind Your Manners
Getaway
Sirens
My Father’s Son
Yellow Moon

Lightning Bolt
Pendulum
Swallowed Whole
Let the Records Play
Sleeping By Myself
Future Days

Slower songs outpace the rockers, so a mid-tempo goes first. I'd be fine with Infallible & Pendulum flipping spots, and three wistful songs to end the record currently are a bit too much.

It's like we were talking about a while ago. I can envision a version of the song that sounds good. The album version wasn't... that. It's so fucking ugly. Those backing vocals. The overbearing piano in the bridge. Just ugly and horrible and ugly.

Sentimental and schlocky, for sure. I think I'm just.... there. By no means do I love it, and I cringe in places, but the song has crept up. And there are things BoB has added that I like, in amongst the bits I don't. Dare I say it there's a lot more appropriate decoration here than there was in SoS.

I was trying not to cut anything, but I agree with your cuts.

"Chintzy." Yes. "The End" did it better? Also yes. But there are some things here that it didn't do... that I like.

The problem is that phrase "a lot".

I grew to like the Wrigley version more over time but for whatever reason the studio version undid that progress. Maybe it needs to be warmer. Maybe it needed a percussion element. Im not sure yet.

I wish some of the songs moved me on a different level, but overall, I'm glad that we got this strange hodgepodge of sounds and styles. Cohesiveness is overrated.

RA is not my favorite, but it might have the best production of their entire catalog. Ed's performances are my only gripe.
I'm one of the wierdos who loves the production AND Ed's performance on Riot Act. The whole ragged, weary thing suited the album really well.

It's an iPod Shuffle album. Interesting that they mentioned that "new" way of hearing music on one of the interviews.

Release, Indifference, Immortality, etc.

Pearl Jam once created great last songs on records. And now we have Future Days, which has got to be the worst last song the band has ever put on an album.

The end was a good closer.
