Re: Random Music News
Yeah, I think that's the ideal most working musicians strive for. It sounds like in the current climate even that is unattainable for the average musician, and touring actually loses them money.tragabigzanda wrote: I'd argue it's easy to see what the next option might be: Divorce yourself from the notion that musicians should make any significant money from their recordings and shows. A break-even album/touring cycle is a perfectly fine goal for a band to have.

Maybe it's not just hollywood, but the entire entertainment industry that will collapse.

I don't like Animal Collective but they're fairly big in the independent space, it's a little startling that even they can't make it work right now

Re: Random Music News
I feel for these guys here - times are tough it seems.
Animal Collective kinda blend into all the more arty rock bands going around over the past however many years, like Panda Bear and Grizzly Bear (they seem to like bears - go figure) and Dirty Projectors and Ariel Pink and even Fleet Foxes that all sound the same to me and are best avoided. Like a big lump of bubblegum that you've had in your mouth for too long and is now tasteless and kinda hard to chew. Is that a genre?
