I was trying not to cut anything, but I agree with your cuts.
Yeah the cuts are good enough for me. I don't think a re-track would improve anything. That said I can't wait for the let's make LB and Backspacer into one great album thread!

Pearl Jam once created great last songs on records. And now we have Future Days, which has got to be the worst last song the band has ever put on an album.
No no, they did, it's called Yellow Moon.

It's like we were talking about a while ago. I can envision a version of the song that sounds good. The album version wasn't... that. It's so fucking ugly. Those backing vocals. The overbearing piano in the bridge. Just ugly and horrible and ugly.
Sentimental and schlocky, for sure. I think I'm just.... there. By no means do I love it, and I cringe in places, but the song has crept up. And there are things BoB has added that I like, in amongst the bits I don't. Dare I say it there's a lot more appropriate decoration here than there was in SoS.

EVERYONE STOP SAYING CRINGE!
But what if the cringes are earned?

I've not actually cringed once. If I've cringed, it's been in my imagination. Saying that I cringed on the Internet is exactly the same as saying "LOL I JUST SPAT COFFEE ON MY MONITOR." Otherwise far too many people are doing that and probably should get some help.

This is it. Even if you remove the horrible piano you're still left with a song that's kinda like The End, only not as good.

After a night to think about it, I'm cutting Sleeping By Myself. It doesn't fit. And Sirens, Lightning Bolt, Future Days and LTRP, because they suck.

I'm really happy about the production and instrumentation. I think it will give us very different experiences with live versions.

Sleeping By Myself....LOVED the uke version, probably my favorite song on that album. I was worried about all the WTF responses on this one from the listening parties....first listen and i pretty much had the same reaction. But i just heard it again the car and i just had the biggest smile on my face. I love it! Good call BOB.

So McCready is playing bass as well on MFS. Stone seems to love the song.

There's a hint of it (if you want to call it that) in the accent guitars in SBM.

Interesting tidbit from the npr story about the interview
The band's not doing any other press to promote Lightning Bolt.

OK, I'm going to weigh in here. As a "typical" RM user (I generally don't like anything Backspacer, but S/T has grown on me quite a bit) here's my likes/dislikes after maybe 3 listens.

Getaway - Solid opener. I like the song a lot but these guys have had some great openers (BoJ and Go are my tops), so this isn't the best opener or the worst, but it should be really good live. 3 stars

MYM - for me, meh. Not that I don't like it, but I don't think the punk style is one they can maintain. A few songs are fine but to me it just sounds forced. 2 stars

My Father's Son - Really, really like the music in this, but the vocals are something that will have to grow on me. 3 stars

Sirens - I'm in the minority I believe, but I really like this song. Maybe it is because my teenage years were in the 80's and I don't mind its' "power ballad" undertones. 4 stars

Lightning Bolt - Same as My Father's Son, I really like the music in this but not sold on the vocals. 3 stars

Infalliable - Love it. Great rocker, love the music and the vocals are fine. 4 stars

Pendulum - Let me start out by saying I don't throw 5 stars around like crazy (stip), but this song is easily 5 stars for me. Mostly because this is my favorite style of PJ at the moment, the 'moody' stuff. 5 stars

Swallowed Whole - Good rocker in the middle of the record. Nothing stands out for me about it, but I don't hate it. 3 stars

Let The Records Play - Ugh. Hate it. And whoever put that Shania Twain reference in my head, eff you. This just isn't a good sound for them, imo. 1 star

Sleeping By Myself - While I like the song and the full band ensemble well enough, I'm irritated they wasted a spot on the album with this. Could have been a good Christmas single or something. 3 stars for the song but overall 2 stars for laziness.

Yellow Moon - Really like it. Just very catchy to me. I'll listen to this one a lot. 4 stars

Future Days - Ugh, I got enough of this on Backspacer. 1 star
