China and Iran rolled up our entire spy network over the last decade, and our Intel relating to recent conflicts that we fought was pretty terrible. It's nice to have a rare W, but it's rather more important that we have better insight into what China is up to.

Thanks, that details my China/ Iran claim pretty well.

Did we not use that same system for Russian ops? They should have been similarly situated to China or Iran to detect and exploit it.

That we may have put more and unique resources into Russian Intel collection due to Cold War hangover makes some sense. (Also, until recently they had 20x the nukes of China)

Russia tried to harden itself to sanctions by implementing a system to push the defense industry to buy domestically. Sorry folks, you missed that window by 20 years or more.

Having to buy ballistic missiles from Iran with better accuracy than their cruise missile and Iskanders must be embarrassing. Based on their inability to target, these accurate Iranian missiles are earmarked for power stations and other civilian infrastructure as the Russians seem incapable of updating target information for military infrastructure.

Is it wrong to assume France provided all the inertial navigation units used by Iran?

Israel has been making noises about maybe assisting. They still have yet to allow other countries to re-export their weapons to Ukraine, so no movement whatsoever so far.

Iron dome was largely financed and developed by the US but we don't have more than a few test systems and probably can't even export those without Israel's approval. They have been absolutely garbage with us in this current unpleasantness and have no reason to need to make nice with Russia other than a lot of their leadership have dual Russian/ Israeli passports.

For those smaller Shahed drones, they fly at pretty low altitude, not sure Iron Dome is an appropriate counter. Iron Dome is optimized for rockets and mortars in ballistic arcs where ground based radar can track them for their entire flight. No one has a perfect response to drones like this, but systems that can deal with short engagement windows with electro optical tracking would be helpful, but the coverage area is pretty small.

An underwater power cable to the Faroe Islands was cut last week. Now an underwater power cable and data cable from Scotland to Shetland islands has been cut. No power or communication on the islands.

I’m saying the Russians did it.

Our navy isn’t worth a fuck but we’ve gas and electricity lines going to Scotland and wales and France and data cables going to the US from Ireland. 1/3rd of all EUs internet traffic to US servers comes through Irish data centers. We’ve something like 3 ships and they’ve gone to sit on the gas/electric lines to the UK.

Russian aircraft have been flying down our west coast for over 10 years and monitored And chased off by British Air Force. Russian subs and more recently warships also going up and down our coast so I fully expect something to happen.
We’re not in NATO and we’re neutral too.
