Such a missed opportunity.

In that twitter thread, someone mentions Rogue One is a great movie and "served a purpose in fixing a plot hole"

what plot hole would that be?

«Speaking with Pete Hammond on the Deadline video series Behind the Lens, Tony Gilroy recalled his conversation with Lucas after Star Wars' creator had seen Rogue One.

"George Lucas called me after Rogue, I had a 45-minute conversation with him after he saw Rogue, and that's the only time I've ever spoken to him. He loved it. He really did. He had a lot of things to say that I... It was like a call from the president."
While Gilroy didn't share any of Lucas' specific comments, this does confirm how much Lucas enjoyed Rogue One. Gilroy describing it as "a call from the president" is a perfect analogy, as any Star Wars writer would cherish a stamp of approval from the maker himself.»

All Andor and Rogue One does, is show how the resistance started, and how they got the details on the Death Star, and why it had such a mistake in its construction.

«While some fans have defended the exhaust port as a necessary ventilation shaft, many more have mocked it as a "stupid design flaw." It was even part of a bit on a special "Star Wars" episode of "Family Guy."

Well, "Rogue One" introduces us to the very man who added that exhaust port to the Empire's secret weapon.

And guess what? It was on purpose. »

The ending of this movie was on in the background when I was visiting a hifi store last week. Reminded me of how great this movie is.
