To piggyback off my point in the guns thread:

https://www.modernhealthcare.com/articl ... lth-access

And this is outdated. The numbers are worse now. Talking about mental health has to mean changing this system and that requires a lot more stakeholders being willing to fork over more of the pie.

Here's more of what I'm getting at:
https://www.propublica.org/article/new- ... ls-hearing

If we want to do more about mental health, get more money into mental health. Money for more beds, more money to staff because theyre already overworked and under paid, more money to get future staff interested in this field, and more money to create more opportunities for outpatient care.

Seems like an opportunity to do an AmeriCorps style deal exchanging student debt for work in this area.

Pretty sure that will only further the problem. The pay rate is still unsustainable for hospitals and doctors/professionals working therein. Which is just like the pay scale for teachers that is untenable. Teachers can't afford to live where they work most of the time. It would need to put more dollars at both ends of the situation.

Tom Cruise was right.

For three decades, people have been deluged with information suggesting that depression is caused by a “chemical imbalance” in the brain – namely an imbalance of a brain chemical called serotonin. However, our latest research review shows that the evidence does not support it.

What a fucking ridiculous thing to object to.

In every close contest this fall the dems should run an add showing the amount of money the average family with a diabetic person spends on insulin and then what it would have been with this provision. Maybe a tagline like "think of all the ARs you could have bought if your Senator hadn't sold you out to big pharma"

Huh, figured she’d be in big pharma’s pocket like all the other ones she’s in.

I think she's trying to make AZ the "not California but not Texas" state for big business:

There were 41 million prescriptions for Adderall in the US last year. Absolutely insane. We don't have an Adderall shortage, we have a psychotic pharmaceutical industry and a bunch of drug addicts.

Talk about transitioning children!

Our internet infrastructure would fall apart if we cut off the supply of Adderall to the tech bros. This is the basis of our industrial society!
