I know. I'm being annoying because the only part of that bill that has anything to do with relieving inflation is the name.Peeps wrote:4/5 wrote:When was inflation relief voted on by Congress? Republicans could attack that law head on, but they won't because they don't have any idea how to fix inflation.4/5 wrote:I know. The time to fix inflation was years ago. No spending bill is going to do shit to lessen inflation, no matter what bullshit name they give it.

That bill didn't have anything to do with inflation. Doesn't make it a bad bill, just one with an irrelevant name that was chosen so Democrats could say, "Republicans voted against inflation relief!"B wrote:Republicans could attack that law head on, but they won't because they don't have any idea how to fix inflation.4/5 wrote:I know. And maybe you're right but I usually assume everybody knows how to fix inflation but doesn't want to incur the political costs of doing so.

Re: 2022 Midterm Elections
So we went and early voted today. There were four state constitutional amendments on the ballot. One of them was to change the language that prohibits slavery outright in the state of TN. I guess as it it’s worded now we can still own slaves here? I fully expect it not to pass. Gotta keep our options open.

Just looked it up because I was curious. From Ballotpedia:wease wrote:So we went and early voted today. There were four state constitutional amendments on the ballot. Basically a chance to close the gaping loophole that's in the 13th Amendment and apparently your state's Constitution.Constitutional Amendment 3 would remove language from the Tennessee Constitution that allows the use of slavery and involuntary servitude as criminal punishments. The ballot measure would replace the language with the statement, "Slavery and involuntary servitude are forever prohibited." The ballot measure would also state that the language does not prohibit an inmate from working when the inmate has been duly convicted of a crime.

Re: 2022 Midterm Elections
There's a healthcare union in California that puts an initiative on the ballot every year that would close private dialysis centers, force everyone to go to the ER, result in tens of thousands of deaths, and apparently they don't care how ghoulish they are. It fails every time, but it's been on there like 5 years in a row.
It's clearly far too easy to get an initiate on the CA ballot.

Is there any better proof that democracy is the theory that the voters should get what they want, good and hard when Biden +20 districts are up for contention?
How long until voters realize that voting is the underlying issue?

Andy Kim, NJ congressman, has a new ad out featuring a stroke survivor talking about women's reproductive rights. Andy Kim happens to represent a part of NJ that is next to PA. this stuff is fascinating lol.

So, the kid running for office in Raleigh says there should be a rape and incest exception to his abortion ban, but it should be decided case-by-case via a community panel. I'm not sure this guy has ever met a girl. He's gonna win.
