It's probably more of a budget/special effects issue than anything. A very specific critique of the show, but valid.

Walrusman and Hammerhead are kicking around at this time period. They are totally human sized.

This most recent episode contained a (spoiled because I know Anders hasn't watched it)
Spoiler: show
casual reference to a genocide the Empire perpetrated because one planet was being too difficult,
so does it seem so far fetched that when designing a maximum security work prison that they would limit it to humans and just throw other species into a ditch?

Yes, it's probably a budget thing, but it makes sense for the story. There were non-human beings on Ferrix and the beach planet, about how many you'd expect there to be if you've literally got stormtroopers roaming around rounding up undesirables.

And as to why there aren't non-humans in the nascent rebellion being put together by senators and diplomats, let's remember that the Republic was imperialist, too.

Well they certainly didn’t penny pinch on all the sets. They all look absolutely amazing.

The empire was rampantly speciesist. Thrawn is the only non human we know of ever was in the empire. Safe to say the prisons are segregated to stop dissent spreading when they get released back to their home worlds and to prevent rebellion gaining alien / human cooperation.

There have been other species in this though. Not many I admit but they’re there.

I’m beginning to think Syril might be force sensistive. Hear me out.
He seems to be extremely self loathing about it. The Jedi obviously being enemies of the empire at this point. He tells his mom he has other ways of knowing she was in his room.
Could almost say he was trying to mind trick Dedra outside her job but she was too strong minded and resisted despite him being arrogant enough to try almost romance her.
Maybe doing that this brings him to the attention of palpatines inquisitors. Somewhere he really doesn’t want to end up.

Just a theory

Dedra has been amazing, probably the best part of the show.

Syril is such an interesting character. Rumours have it he will turn “rebel” after his snubs from the empire but I can’t see it. He seems like a character willing to die in the name of the empire than turn to the enemy.

I was confident he would join Dedra on the hunt for Cassian but I can’t see it after their latest interaction.

If he was Jedi I think he’d be a lot smarter tactically than he is. He doesn’t seem to be able to read people very well.

Syril flipping would be too Reva. Of course, Disney DOES like to turn iconic villains into nice guys.

Makes me more and more disappointed with the quality/direction of Obi-Wan with each episode.
I enjoyed Obi Wan very much. But it doesn't even come close to the excellence of this show. Obi Wan had too many arcs that didn't need to be there. The Inquisitors were just fan service, we didn't get to know them or their story. They could have done more on Luke's aunt and uncle as well. Just not enough development. Perhaps because it was limited in the number of episodes. In Andor, I'm craving and they are giving me all the character development. Syril, Dedra, the Senator (excellent, btw), and of course Cassian.

One thing I appreciate with the series, is that it’s fully made for adults. Can’t imagine many kids liking this.

Dedra is This series Reva but better written/performance than What we got in Obi-Wan.

I’m liking Andor but I don’t think it’s better than Obi-Wan and or TBOBF

Tired cliche but they’re not like for like at all.

I hope they return to this sort of tone and tension in the acolyte. We know what ahsoka is gonna be or at least feel like in terms of Star Wars.
Skeleton crew will be the one the kids kids can enjoy I reckon.

I think Dedra turning would ruin the show. Showrunner seems too smart for that. She's not Reva.

Where’s this coming from? My boyfriend thinks she’s gonna turn too. She’s clearly not going to?

Denise Gough on the character-

“It’s really important to me that there are no factions outlined: it’s important that Dedra feels like the heroine of her story, and that’s why she’s scary. She is a fascist. She believes in something, but it is fascism. At first you have to root for her, you feel like you’re rooting for her, but then you realize that no matter how strong a woman she is in a world of men, you realize that she is just a fascist in a world of fascists.

Power corrodes everyone, men and women: she never apologizes, believes in everything she does and truly believes that she will save the galaxy, so she is credible and frightening. Cassian could also be a villain if you think about it, he kills both at the beginning of the series and the movie. He’s the villain of someone else’s story.

Whoever you are and however you identify yourself, there is both light and darkness in you. Although obviously in Dedra there is just a bit more darkness.”

I’ll be honest after the first 3/4 episodes I assumed Syril would be this series Reva.
