I think I love the patina I’ve built up over the years on my cast iron about as much as anything else in my kitchen (and that includes the left over fried chicken in my refrigerator).

Re: What are you making tonight?
I usually add a little dish soap to my cast iron when cleaning (it doesn’t strip the seasoning like it would a carbon steel).tragabigzanda wrote:i read an article the other day that suggested I should wash my pan with soap and re-season, even if it's not technically in need of it. Anybody ever do this?

Can you imagine using a cast iron just to cook some eggs, then spending 45 mins cleaning and storing it. Christ.

I cook eggs in mine all the time. No 45-minute clean time. Storing it takes about 3 secondsbodysnatcher wrote:Can you imagine using a cast iron just to cook some eggs, then spending 45 mins cleaning and storing it. Christ.
