I don't usually like reality TV crap, but the wife wanted to watch Snowflake Mountain, so we watched that over a few nights. Was actually not too bad - seems like something my Stepsons need to go on

Watched the Woodstock '99 3 part doc. Lotta frat boys, huh. No wonder nu metal gets made fun of so much.

i only watched the first episode, but some of the shots of the crowd are so embarrassing. seemed like a weird time for music, in retrospect.

It was a terrible time for music and movies and they concentrated that awfulness into WS99. I think the doc sounds interesting but I’m not sure if I want to spend several hours in that time period. Also why is it that every single time they call a festival “Woodstock,” there ends up being raw sewage everywhere.

I am trying with The Sandman, but it has just been boring so far (save a few scenes).

Just finished the first episode - I think that I'll keep at it. Interesting time - that's for sure

Also watching the Woodstock doc now. I've never really thought about that event, but while watching it I'm thinking "holy shit what a zenith for that weird, violent time in the late 90s."

Episode 1 ends with Bush following up Korn in their prime and I can't help but wonder if that band could have had a better mid/late career push if they would have opened with anything but Swallowed. Gavin nobly tried to reign that frat crowd energy in when he could have gone for broke with Everything Zen and conquered the world.

Also, sub out Ween, Pavement and Phish for Korn, Limp Bizkit and RATM in '99 and the whole thing probably would have been a great success. Maybe let those water bottles in too.

2 more episodes to go...

Just watched the crowd clips in the intro from episode 2. I was horribly wrong in the above quote. There was nothing that could have saved this event.

(Grateful for Amanda Lewis's perspective in this doc)

If Ween had played there would have been fewer rapes but way more people covered in poop water.
