Does he usually do well in the league? Seems like a lot of ff experts I listen to advise exactly what he did/does!
conceptually, it makes sense; i only carry one kicker and defense and trade in and out all the time. the problem for him is that he's on the verge of getting stuck with no waiver money to play with (we have a waiver deadline, and you better have all the players you need heading into the playoffs, which means he'll need to stock up on a backup quarterback and TE too).
Right, but you can still bid $0 on a player and pick them up, right? Obviously as long as no one else bids higher than that and you're ahead in the waiver order.
Or is your system set up so that once you have no money, you are unable to pick anyone up?
Because my earlier comment included the strategy of going big/hard on Watson with remaining FAAB.

Yeah, the dumb commissioner of our league set it up where it doesn’t allow $0 bids. Pretty stupid.

If that's the case then this is a risky situation for your man.
If it's a typical league, then it's cool. I've got $0 left in my league. Just spent my last $8 on The Gus Bus!

Yikes, well there you go. Dude's in a pickle. Good luck to him!
