Taking away a kids scholarship because he sang along to a naughty word is obviously a pretty crazy response. It's a stupid thing to do, but in a vacuum it doesn't make him a racist (just kind of an idiot for posting it)

I've tossed resumes for having typos in the cover letter because I have dozens of applications from talented candidates on my desk.

Is this any different? The school could give a gift of $120,000 in tuition money and a shit ton of privilege to many highly qualified recruits. A small mistake might be all it takes for them to go to the next kid.

It's a sad story, but sometimes the consequences of small mistakes are getting a scholarship from Penn State instead of Florida. I hope he can scrape his life back together.

the school is allowed to pull the scholarship for pretty much anything that may be deemed negative to the school. Speech isnt free from repercussions no matter how much grandstanding you take or label it as a horrible way to live. in this case that isnt for you to decide but for the school.
