Re: Infallible
The verse and chorus don't really fit but I think they're both really good. Just need to chop out all the stupid "yeah"s from the end

I think I'd like this more if it was "Inflatable." Every other word can stay the same.

Re: Infallible
This song is alright, but if I listen to the synth too closely I start hearing music from Super Mario World.

Re: Infallible
After my first underwhelmingly listen, I'd wondered if there was more here than initially meets the eye (or ear). Having heard it a few more times since, I'm pretty sure there's less.

I like it a lot. I understand people wanted an angrier chorus, but the lyrics are still pretty dark, overall.

Re: Infallible
My favourite from the album at this point. From 2:47 onwards, this is my PJ heaven. The chorus is the best part of the album for me. In my opinion, this is the most successful Pearl Jam have ever been in trying to pull of an 'experimental' song. I would be happy with more experimental stuff if it is in this vein rather than what they attempted on No Code or Binaural.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

One of my favourites on the record!
I have recently begun listening to some of Incubus and I agree that there are som similarities in sound/melody.

Re: Infallible
Wow, as much as I bitched about this song today...it might just be growing on me. I'm just trying to accept it for what it is, and when I do, I let the chorus take over, and it's not so bad.
But I will say this, I just went back to the soundcheck version. They were playing a seriously different version of the song. The melodies of the song are different, and you can hear Ed's vocals, the melodies sound different as well. Maybe they were just experimenting with it live, or they will play it slightly different live.

But I agree with you, the soundcheck version seemed to be different. Certainly more downbeat and less funky. The vocal melody (if I could make out any of it) had more deep voiced-Ed in it, rather than melodic high Ed. I'm pretty sure it will seem like a straighter hard rock song if it's played live, even if that melody changed.
