Bless him and the story to this album, but Billy is an absolute self obsessed narcissist. The way he keeps referring to his standing of one of the greatest or accredited songwriters of his generation only to get to the point of how his interviewee has persevered… it’s Alan Partridge level stuff. The story of the album is essentially how Billy has been wronged, does not get the credit he deserves from the music business and how pure he is while navigating all the nasties.

I say this as someone who has followed all the latter day output and find him fascinating as an artist.

PS CYR is a really good album, it took me a while to come round to it but there are some lovely hooks and tunes in it.

Agree with all of the above. Dude is a massive douche who just happens to write amazing music. Even Cyr has grown on me a ton.

well, he really had a very tough upbringing. Like super tough. But yeah, he has been battling always with being the better song writer of his generation, the most lovable from the band. etc

he seems super mad with his 90s peers too.

Giving the new one a proper listen. I mostly agree with the comments above and it always makes me approach his albums with a bit of hesitation- like is this the time the bottom will drop out and I’ll have had enough. So far so decent.

I can't think of another band where I absolutely love their early stuff but absolutely hate everything after.

It's not like Pearl Jam where I enjoy the new stuff but prefer the old stuff.

Or like U2 where I don't like the new stuff but there are a few diamonds in the rough.

I have a seething deep loathing of everything post-Adore (bar one or two tracks off Machina)

yeah i understand that feeling.

I still feel Zeitgeist is really good, and then most of the stuff sounds ok to me, sometimes the production is impossible tough.

I really like Shiny.

Shiny has some good songs, but any album that opens with Billy going "woew woew woew woewww" is fighting an uphill battle.

i think its their best record since Zeitgeist, sounds very good, clearly Rubin is behind it to fight Billy and it only has 8 songs!

Ello did you make a best of SP from Zeitgeist to now?

Not yet. I have a feeling you'd hate mine. It'd have Starz on it.

Okay, what about "Solara" and "Marchin' On"? They kinda sound Zeitgeist-ish.

Bugs insisting on calling it "Tarantula album" is one of my favorite things.

Definitely not. The mixing is too far removed, for one.
