Re: The Weight Loss Thread
I hit 150.5 today, so .5 from goal.
When I started this, I wanted to see a reduction in puffiness to my face and overall a slimmer torso. I definitely accomplished both and answered some questions that I had, and maybe you've had too about weight loss:
1. Can you lose weight in your face? Yes, but you need to drop about 9-10 pounds to see a difference. I had Googled this before and it turned out to be true.
2. Is skin sagging/wrinkles from weight loss real? Yes, unfortunately. I only lost 15-16 pounds, but that was enough to leave a little skin sagging near my jowls and wrinkles near my cheeks when I smile. Doctor says skin should catch up and tighten up. I had Googled this too but thought it was limited to people who underwent massive transformations.
3.Can strength training help you lose weight? Hell, yes. Once I combined weight lifting with cardio the pounds started to shed.
Warehouse, what is your advice to maintain the weight? Workout and eating wise.

Had a check up with my primary care physician yesterday and he said even losing 13 or so pounds can leave skin sagging a bit. I thought it was water retention because when I press just above my jawline there's a small indent for a sec. Who knows.

That's like dropping four sticks of butter for every pound, a great deal of extra weight.
What worked for you?

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
17 pounds, what limb did you cut off? lol but seriously good work fellas, you guys are kicking ass in here.
i think even after you reach your goal you need to experiment with how to maintain what you want. at the same time, you want to be consistent with exercising and eating. weightlifting and cardio should always go together. you can even build muscle in your face/neck from lifting, you just naturally tense up when you lift weights. pay attention to what you are eating and the results you get when you exercise.
being so close to the weight you want, maybe you want to incorporate a new goal. whether it's a faster mile time or heavier bench press, i always like having a goal to reach.
speaking of cardio, i always sprint at the end. it's usually only like 1/4 mile, but i've done this since i was a teenager. it might just be a mental thing at this point, but i think its a great idea if you don't mind feeling like death for a minute.

Re: The Weight Loss Thread
These are all good suggestions, Warehouse.
It's interesting that you mentioned building muscles in the face and neck. This is my new goal. I was left w/ some drooping, loose skin on my face from losing the 12 pounds or so. It's subtle but it bothers me. I've read that loose skin will firm up over time but in the meantime building muscle helps fill that space up in a good way.
I'm going to set aside a new goal to increase what I lift on every machine by at least one or two heavier weights.
Will also sprint at the end of my elliptical workout, yes, I remember sprinting as a teen too. Oh the energy I had. Lol.
