If the game requires a 50+ GB patch to even be playable, what's the point of physical discs at all for games like this?

One of the main reasons I never play these 'big budget' FPS's anymore, it's f'ing ridiculous. I will say Modern Warfare 2 looks pretty good but I may wait till it goes on sale to try it out.
