England did what they always do in world cups. France was better. They have a tough match with the pretty awesome Morocco.

Re: World Cup 2022
The French defenders kept making bone-headed challenges late in the game. I think Morocco's Fort Knox + counter-attack style might draw out the same levels of desperation. I'd like to think they're in with a chance.

Re: World Cup 2022
some interesting semis upcoming
France v. Morocco likely a blowout but there will be 100K Moroccan fans in the stadium screaming their lungs out
Argentina v. Croatia could be an epic grudge match

This Grant Wahl thing seems like it should be a much bigger story.

Why ? Because his brother is saying he was killed?
I never heard of him until I saw it here on RM.

No, not because you’ve never heard of him. I hadn’t, either.VinylGuy wrote:Why ? Because his brother is saying he was killed?

48 years old and drops dead in the press box. That’s weird.

Re: World Cup 2022
he was tweeting a bunch in the days leading up to the game that he hadn't been feeling great and that he was super low on sleep/energy. it sounds like a heart attack.Bammer wrote:No, not because you’ve never heard of him. i'm not about to put on a tin-foil hat just yet. i'm guessing murdering an american soccer journalist during the world cup wasn't at the top of qatar's agenda.

I’m certainly no health expert but when someone dies of a heart attack, isn’t that pretty quickly recognized and announced as the cause of death?Chris_H_2 wrote:he was tweeting a bunch in the days leading up to the game that he hadn't been feeling great and that he was super low on sleep/energy. it sounds like a heart attack.Bammer wrote:No, not because you’ve never heard of him. Maybe the Qatar government has different laws on releasing that type of info to the public? And maybe, just maybe, his wife/family aren't saying anything until they get over there and deal with it? Nothing in this story is suspicious or a stretch, go back to your QAnon-Trump theories, bam bam.

Re: World Cup 2022
from what I read, looked like he was sick but working long hours
he had tweeted ‘this is not my first rodeo’ basically about working long hours while sick / overseas
he went to the medic and got antibiotics
said he felt somewhat better
then complained of chest pains
took a turn for the worse
RIP

Re: World Cup 2022
Stoked for today's match because I have no skin in the game and I'll be happy if either team wins.
I fell in love with Croatia last World Cup and my RM love makes me support Argentina. Also Messi is amazing.
So... Go Good Game!
