This thing's got layers and pulls it off in a way that respects the viewer and genre.
I suspect you'll like it. No spoilers, but they managed to hit the sweet spot with weaving social allegory throughout the story so that it builds up the characters and events to give a perspective to experiences many horror film fans don't/won't/can't understand and it's done in a way that doesn't patronize or punch down but still elicits that 'oh, i get it now' moment.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. What's funny is I was kind of hating on Barbarian until Justin Long showed up. Up until that point it feels like a bog standard "elevated horror" thing, kind of boring, but then Justin Long shows up and the movie lights up. He's great in it, and the movie's a blast from that point forward

Not exactly a masterpiece, but I do think Andrew Garfield is the best cinematic Spider-Man. Think he could have done really well in the MCU.Anders wrote:The Amazing Spider-Man
