Guys, Vitalogy, No Code, Yield, Binaural, and Riot Act are all pretty different records. This idea that there's some "Middle-Period Pearl Jam Fan" who is longing for them to return to the "sound" from this era is silly. They covered a decent bit of ground in these years, and the reason so many of us are attached to these is records isn't because they sound a certain way, it's because THEY'RE REALLY FUCKING GOOD. SOMETIMES EVEN GREAT. I don't know why it's so easy to dismiss the idea that people like these albums because they're of a higher quality than other albums.

I actually said previously that anybody who thinks "Lightning Bolt" is a better album than "Binaural" needs to have their head examined immediately. Not quite "no way is that possible" but it's generally the same sentiment.

I've come to the conclusion ( after being here ONLY around the time of a new release ) for each of the last few albums ( under various usernames ).....that I don't give a shit what anyone thinks about each new record......and no one should care what I think. Damn that was easy.

Lbolt is Eddie, I think

A lot of people may think the piano at the beginning of Future Days is some wannabe Bruce Springteen shit that BOB came up with but its actually an old vault recording of Ed's first child being aborted from 1992. That's not an electric piano, its a doctor drumming his claws and hammers on the operating table while Jeremy plays on a radio the background Nip/Tuck style.....as the afterbirth splatters on the floor.

I actually like the fact that the piano playing at the start is out of tone. That gives it a raw edge. It would have destroyed the fragile balance of this song if it was smooth.
