I definitely like where your head is at with the piece. That's where I went too. And I think it's honestly both. MM just doesn't like saying too much about what his stuff "means" because he wants people to take away whatever they want from it.

Saw Jack Reacher. I gave it a good rating the first time I saw it, yet in my memory it seemed very mediocre. Felt like I must have rated it too high. The rewatch however, cemented the rating. Just an entertaining and well made film.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

From what I remember, I agree that it was nowhere near the first one in quality.

Can get down to -15c (5f) this weekend. Going to be a good weekend for watching movies. Watching a Nowegian movie called The Orheim Company now. It can be seen as a standalone movie, but is actually the final movie in a trilogy. Solid movie about a kid’s youth. The first two movies are about him as an adult.

Tonight I watched X, which was a lot of fun (I'll watch Pearl tomorrow) and Decision to Leave, which immediately shot up near the top of my list of favorite movies of the year. Wonderful movie
