I agree, but you could argue that these "not mundane" vocals don't fit the song as well as they could have if sung more simply.

Yup. I really like Infallible but loads of baritone instead of all that high anthemic wailing would've scratched my itch.

I think the vocal performance on you are is pretty bad for the song actually. It holds back a pretty interesting piece of music.

As for the soundcheck version, Stone mentioned in an interview that the album version was a synth thing that they fucked with until they got the sound. I'm guessing in soundcheck they were trying to rework it primarily for guitars, but that's a guess.

I agree this song sounds nothing like You Are, its more anthemtic. I didnt care for it too much after my first listen, maybe because i was expecting something different, something like You Are but after a few listens i think its a stand out track...I really hope they extend the jam at the end during live shows....

I don't hear You Are at all in this. If anything, it bears a resemblance to the see-sawing music of a Rival - but, like a really distant relative.

I waver on this one. I do enjoy listening to it, but that chorus refrain is so poppy that makes me feel guilty for some stupid reason.

You are was a song I grew to appreciate. So was rival (actually I think rival is pretty great. One of a small number of binaural songs that feel alive). I loved this one pretty much right away.

It isn't negating the danger. It is a song about convincing us to be better than that, and so when it addresses us directly it decides not to yell at us and try a different approach. The same dynamic is in mym. I love it

It would be really great if they're starting to experiment with different-sounding live tracks. If this becomes a big loud rock song live (what we wanted it to be, hence the "You Are" comparisons), instant boner.

This song has my interest peaked, it's what I want to put on the most. I just don't know how I feel about it yet. Certain parts (the verses) I love, other parts I am still trying to figure out.

I guess I just don't like that dynamic then, mym, ltrp and this all start with verses that get me interested or grooving or bopping that stops dead when the chorus kicks in. I blame Eddie, I dislike everyone of those vocal melodies. They make me when I should be or
