I hate going to the theater in NYC precisely because of that kind of shit. So I only go to Alamo Drafthouse or the super arty places like BAM or the Angelika.

Both screenings I saw of TROS were at Alamo. No one reacted in super negative ways. There weren't any big cheers, but there wasn't anything like that video either. Like, I'm not even sure I believe that video is real.

I gotta believe it's at least somewhat staged. I don't believe that's a regular audience. Probably a bunch of friends rented out a small theater (and it does look pretty small) to goof on the movie for some reason.

The only part I found funny was the person who yelled out "I hate Star Wars!"

Yeah same here. Specially the first time i saw it; at the end there was thing overall felling of tireness and boredom. And everyone laughed at the Rey skywalker moment.

I liked the Rey Skywalker bit. I know it's corny, but the movie is about space wizards, so...

That’s the Reylo community. They are demented and obsessed with rey and kylo being a couple.

The only times I’ve ever encountered audiences here cheering and clapping and hollering woohoo!! Was for the three new films. We just don’t do that stuff here. for anything.
When the fanfare bursts on screen, when the falcon appears in TFA and then Han and chewie. Etc etc.

The only audible huge gasps I can remember are Luke at the end of TFA and at the end of TLJ both when he appears and then dies. and Han appearing to Ben in ROS.

Ive been in American and British cinemas and really this one shouty stuff only happens in the US in my experience. But I agree with Jorge. This is a private rental theatre. It’s too small and too many ‘ladies’ of the reylo cult present to be anything else

In your defense you're all Irish

And we’ve a great respect for performance he it onscreen or especially on stage.
We just don’t do that.

Brilliant story about Lucas (I think?) being in Japan for the release of Star Wars there and when the film was over and the credits started the audience were totally silent and sat all the way through the criedts.
He thought it was lost on them and they hated it. Turns out Japanese audiences biggest respect they can give is sitting silently and that’s how they do it.

Cultural differences yo.

* now wanna we that pj 95 tour video of Japanese audiences just staring blankly at the lads tearing it up on stage

Anders wrote:Very positive reactions when I saw it, but nothing as loud as that.

When we saw Avengers Endgame around the premiere, it was the loudest I’ve heard a cinema. They were positive, but still mostly annoying to me.
When Captain America grabbed Thor’s hammer our whole audience just gasped then cheered all in unison. Never experienced anything like that. A very incredible moment.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

Same.

Another like that and maybe bigger was force awakens. The force theme playing and the lightsaber flying to rey instead of ren

That one was huge.
There’s a ton more I forget. (None of them in any marvel film really apart from the above and tony dying. Sniffles)
