I will try. I’m not a good movie talker.

Billy Wilder's The Apartment. What a movie, can't believe I'd never seen it. I loved everything about it

Couldn’t finish it. I had been up since 5.30 am, and this was after a full days work, did our final Christmas shopping, then met up with family, had dinner, etc. Finally when everything settled down, the guests had left, our daughter was sleeping, I put this on. Which was not a problem. I was fully engaged, and focused. But with about an hour left I started getting tired. Turned it off with 45 minutes left. Can not remember the ending from the first time I saw it, so to be continued.

It’s an impressive movie in many ways, it has top notch acting, frame for frame it looks great, scene after scene has a specific meaning, moves the story and plot forward. Yet on two separate occasions (I saw it first 8-9 years ago), I have felt that I do not really care about the characters, or the evolution of their story. Not usually a problem for me. It probably didn’t help that on previous nights here (I’m spending some days in the home I grew up in), both my wife and my mother have loved the movie I put on (Amour & Kon-Tiki, only Dredd I saw alone). For this they both seemed to zone out quickly, my mother knitting, my wife on her phone.

All in all I think I will upgrade it to four out of five stars, once I finish it. That is a high rating for me, which only a select few movies get each year. It has a certain magic, and phenomenal acting and directing.

Willow. I remembered very little of this from my childhood viewing, so unfortunately there wasn't enough of a nostalgia effect to really draw me in. I just wish I connected more with the characters. Sometimes I found Willow himself endearing and other times irritating, so that was a disappointment to me. The set pieces were great though.

Oh and the Brownies are worse than Jar Jar Binks.

a old chestnut that still clarifies spielberg's filmography -- he's a man dead-set on being loved

Dunkirk was fine enough. I know it wasn’t the intent, but I wish I cared more about the characters.

The Gift. This is a profoundly unremarkable movie. I don't think I will remember anything about it.

Yeah MI2 is the worst by miles. I love the first one also.

I'm not sure if I'm going to finish this one. It's some serious dog shit. When does the series get good again, 3 or 4?

Looks like 3 is a JJ special, so my hopes aren't super high.
